MOU : SCN with Cauayan City, Philippines, January 2019

Following the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that SCN signed with Cauayan City in Isabela province of the Philippines in January 2019, together with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 2, Isabela State University and Smart Cities Council, Smart Cities Network (SCN) conducted several workshops for Cauayan, facilitated by the DOST and the League of Cities in the Philippines.

In 2020, Cauayan City, with support from SCN, won two global awards for the Concept and proof of concept for disaster risk reduction and management with World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGo) (based in Seoul) and Amazon Web Services City-on-a-Cloud Gamechanger Award respectively.

In March 2021, DOST Region 2 launched the Cagayan Smart Cities Belt initiative. SCN conduct workshops from September till November 2021 to raise awareness of UN SDGs.

In March 2023, Cauayan City launched the national movement of smart and sustainable cities and communities at the International Smart Conference and Exposition and Networking Engagement (ISCENE).

Following these successes, SCN signed two more MOUs with Philippine cities in 2023.
